Our Winnipeg trip

We went into Winnipeg Thursday night because Terry had an update course at Red River on Friday. We didn't feel like getting up at 5:30 am with two kids, so we stayed at my Auntie Edith and Uncle Gilles house on Thursday.

Well....Seth decided he was going to get a cold. His eyes were a little goopy Thursday so before we left, I took him to the doctor to see if it was pink eye. It wasn't, thank goodness. The doc said it was just his tears because his tear ducts were blocked so the goop was coming out the eyes instead of draining. I can handle that!

I put Seth down to sleep around 11:30 Thursday night because he slept all the way in to Wpg, which put his schedule off a little. Well, then Breana decided she was going to get a cough. We were all sleeping in the same room, so when Breana started coughing, this woke Seth up. I think that would have been around 1 or 1:30. Finally, at 2:30, we still hadn't gone back to sleep, and my Aunt had to work the next day, so I took Seth downstairs hoping that they would sleep upstairs.

We tried sleeping on the lounge chair, we tried the couch, and we tried the floor. Around 4:30, I decided I would try putting him in the car seat, so that I could rock it and still lay on the couch. Well, he finally fell asleep around 5:30 am. My uncle is an early riser, and he woke up at 6ish, so needless to say, I was working on about 3 hours of sleep. Seth is cranky, sick, Breana is sick, Terry is sick, and everyone is tired!

We took Terry to Red River for 9am. I was planning on taking the kids to some museums, but with them being so sick, I didn't think it was a good idea. So we drove across the city to go visit where I used to work. That ate up 1.5 hours and Seth got some rest! We ended up at Polo Park after that. We did a little bit of shopping, but everyone was getting tired, so I decided to go to the hotel to see if we could check in early. We got to the hotel, and our room was ready, so we went up and laid on the bed for an hour and a half.

We picked up Terry, and headed to Old Navy. Found a couple of good deals, and as we were headed to go have some supper at the Olive Garden, Terry decided that he didn't want to sit in a nice restaurant with 2 sick kids, so we went back to the hotel and ordered pizza. Terry and Breana went swimming while Seth and I watched. After supper, Breana did some more swimming while Terry watched Seth sleep in the room.

Seth actually slept pretty good Friday night. He was sleeping by 8 - 8:30 and didn't wake up again until 6am, which was really good, because of the lack of sleep the night before! We went for breakfast and then went swimming. Seth and I went into the hot tub and the kiddie pool while Breana and Terry did the big pool and the hot tub. Seth really liked the hot tub!

Because everyone but me was sick and cranky, we decided that once we checked out of the hotel at noon, we would just head out to Otterburne to pick up Megan (Terry's sister) and head home. The roads going to Otterburne and then from Wpg to Portage weren't good. We passed by 2 accidents. Megan was glad she came home with us.

Anyways, we are home now and hopefully on the mend. Terry says he feels better, Breana's cough doesn't sound like she is going to cough up a lung, and Seth's eyes aren't gooping anymore. He has slept all day today, so hopefully that is a good sign. His nose is still running like crazy. Whenever he sees a kleenex, he turns his head and cries. Poor baby! I can tell his upper lip is sore and raw-looking. He is getting a bit of a cough, so hopefully it doesn't turn into anything serious. We'll have to wait to see.

I know exactly how it is trying to sleep in one room with with 2 kids. Been there and done that too many times!!! Fortunately for us our kids seem to get sick one right after the other so we don't usually have both sick at the same time. That sucks!!
